2013 New American Home – NAHB – Ultimate Showhome in Las Vegas

Every year, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) works with local builders, suppliers and artisan quality installers to build the premier show-home in North America.  They reveal it at their annual conference in February (in Las Vegas) and allow attendees to view it first hand.  While the 2014 show-home hasn’t been unveiled yet, NAHB has done a great job documenting the 2013 build and final results of the home:

After reviewing this level of workmanship, luxury and technology in a single project, it is amazing what the build team ( spearheaded by Blue Heron Homes ) accomplished in less than 10 months.  The design vision was centered around the home’s ecological footprint with a clear emphasis on integrating indoor, outdoor and water features throughout the property.  From their website:

This is a certified Green Building Project,” according to Tucker Bernard, executive director of the New American Home. “It surpasses all of the green building guidelines and will save about 75 percent of heating and cooling costs compared to a similar house built in the Las Vegas marketplace.”  Certified “Emerald” Status under the National Green Building Standard as well as boasting a HERS Index of 33, the 2013 New American Home has definitely achieved what it was set out to showcase!

Set on a 1.2 acre lot in an exclusive golf community, the home has a market value of around $4 million.

NAHB’s annual International Builders Show (IBS) takes place February 4-6, 2013 and is co-locating with the Kitchen and Bath Industry show.  The 2014 New American Home will be unveiled this year and tickets to view are complimentary to all guests attending the IBS.
