Highlights from TopInstallers visit to 2014 NAHB International Builders Show #IBS and #KBIS

Last week, TopInstallers visited the National Association of Homebuilder’s International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas. The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) ran concurrently and brought together the biggest names of product manufacturers, distributors and service providers serving North America. Here’s some highlights:

  • We saw houzz.com, homeadvisor.com, bluebook proview and porch.com.  Very interesting to so how they are building their networks and have slightly different business models to help builders and tradespeople to connect with projects
  • Both shows had a tonne of educational events, workshops and product knowledge opportunities delivered by keynote speakers, remodeling celebrities and company representatives
  • IBS had a very large amount of software solutions providers.  Most were focused on Design, Estimation, Bids Management / CRM and project control
  • IBS targeted the small to medium home builder, design/build firms and developers so they had some very innovative building materials, systems and technology
  • KBIS seemed to attract more designers, architects, and sub-trades and had a huge assortment of kitchen and bath fixtures, appliances, and surface coverings.
  • There was a rumor going around the show:  IBS, KBIS and Surfaces 2015 will combine over a week to become one of the largest conferences in the world.

I have copied in a couple image galleries to give you an idea what the tradeshow was like – but you really have to attend to experience the size and scope.
