Living in small spaces is a reality for many and a goal for others.  Whether you are looking to lower your ecological footprint, or would like to simplify your life by moving into a smaller space, you are not alone.  A few “living small” sites have gained popularity over the past few years and provide a literal blueprint for urban downsizing or off-grid living.  We will summarize four of the more popular sites below:

  • Dwell Logo  dwell.com – the digital version of a printed magazine, Dwell.com is optimized for mobile and has content around home design examples, prefab examples, small home living and has recently increased the presence of their online store (focused on functional design items to help complete the perfect look for your room).
  • jetsongreen-40_140  jetsongreen.com – Jetson Green focuses on sustainable living and uses project reviews around small spaces and green development to build most o ftheir content.  The site is laid out like a blog with categorized articles and lots of images.
  • apartmenttherapy lgog  apartmenttherapy.com – This digital magazine has excellent urban design articles, DIY tips and recommendations to help anyone maximize life in a small space.  Lots of project profiles, images and inspiration combined with some great design contests will help you meet small space living goals.Inhabitat Logo
  •   inhabitat.com - This green blog has evolved into a curator of all things sustainable.  Smaller spaces and prefabbed homes are often profiled but you will also find technology articles, new product development, DIY information and general green innovation content.
